Professional Negligence junior paralegal within a First Response Unit.
The duties and responsibilities include:
- Receiving, processing and assessing confidential client information
- Liaising directly with independent introducers
- Decision making as to whether or not potential claim fits acceptable criteria
- Liaising directly with client(s), other Unit members, field agents, to fix appointments
- Preparation of client care and legal information packs
- Corresponding with other firms of solicitors, financial institutions and own clients
- Managing efficiently the various critical time lines and targets associated with the processes and working systems
- Receiving and processing documentary evidence relating to the claim
- Liaising with lawyers and other paralegals
- Corresponding with client(s) with reports/up-dates of progress
- Case management system inputting
The duties and responsibilities may progress to higher levels over time subject to aptitude, attitude, experience and effectiveness and may lead to being offered a training contract after one year’s service.
Candidates beware: Whilst this is an 8.30 am to 5 pm contractual position, it is not always an 8.30am to 5pm job!
Candidates must satisfy the following criteria:
- Passed LPC/PGD in Legal Practice and be looking for opportunity to enter legal profession with a view to a training contract in due course
- Either Law Degree (Hons) or a Graduate Diploma in Law
- Preferably some work experience in a law office (although not mandatory)
- Ability to communicate in a professional, friendly and efficient manner with clients of the firm, other team members, solicitors and paralegals, both internal and external, as well as the Solicitor Directors
- Be computer literate and be ready to quickly learn and understand and operate Case Management systems
- Ability to plan and organize daily workloads, manage information and general administration and work to targets
- Evaluate facts, risk assess and make decisions based on specified criteria
